At the College of the Siskiyous, in California, such a plan prompted a tirade of anti-Arab and anti-Muslim comments from a trustee, disturbing many on the campus. The trustee is refusing to apologize or resign.

Al-Jisser Group for Arab Art ad Culture
Founded in April 2001 by a group of Arab Women based in New York and California and later reorganized in 2003 as Al Jisser Group, this organisation is run by a group of volunteers who trace their origins to the cultural activism of Arab Women Artists who functioned during the mid nineties, presenting monthly events at Anarchy cafe and later at Here performance space. Al Jisser Group’s mission is to build a bridge between Arabic art and culture to the world by organizing exhibitions and events of visual art, music, film, and other media.
